Pre-School & Baby/Toddler Story Times Offered    (back to top)

The Caro Library will be offering Baby/Toddler and Preschool Story Time, free and open to the public.  Baby/Toddler Story Time begins at 10:30 on Wednesdays in the Community Room.

  • Baby/Toddler sessions are recommended for ages birth-2. They will be a lapsit program focusing on interaction between the child and the caregiver. Older children are welcome to attend with younger siblings but stories and activities will be focused on the younger age.

Preschool Story Time begins at 10:30 on Fridays in the Community Room.

  • The sessions are recommended for 3- 5 year olds, but children of all ages are welcome.   In the event the library would be closed for any reason, then the story time would also be canceled.
  • We introduce young children to books and reading at story times. Story times are a fun way for a child to build listening skill while interacting in a group setting with their peers. We will share the love of books through: stories, games, finger plays, flannel board stories, crafts, rhymes and songs. Parents are free to stop in at the library or call for more information.

School Tour

Groups wishing to tour the library are encouraged to make arrangements for a guided tour at least two weeks in advance. These tours are offered at no charge. Tours will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.

Pre-Schoolers’ tours last approximately one half hour and include a chance for the children to see how the books are checked out, tour the various sections to familiarize participants with the Library, and end with listening to a story being read by the Librarian.

Older Students tours have a greater focus on the services of the library and the functions of the various levels and spaces. They learn how to use the computer card catalog and then how to find the books on the shelves.

Call Danielle at 673-4329 ext. 103 to arrange a tour

1000 Books Before Kindergarten

Kids holding up signs and smiling

Did you know that reading to your child is one of the most powerful ways to boost his or her brain power? The simple and enjoyable act of sharing books helps your child learn pre-reading skills such as understanding the sounds letters make, developing a bigger vocabulary, and building background knowledge—all important skills that help prepare your child for learning to read and entering kindergarten.

Caro Area District Library’s 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program is a fun, exciting, and free way to start your child on the path to success! Any child from birth to the year before they start kindergarten can participate. Click here to learn more and/or register.
