Loan Periods
There is usually no limit on how many items you may check out at one time; digital materials are limited to five at one time. Courtesy suggests that you check out only what you will use during the loan period and that you return items promptly when finished.
The loan period for books, books on tape, and magazines is two weeks. Videos may be checked out for three days (including the day you checked it out). Digital materials can be loaned for up to two weeks. Most items may be renewed in person, online, or by telephone up to three times. Exceptions include materials that have been reserved by other patrons and digital materials—these materials may not be renewed.
Some items cannot be checked out, including new magazines, newspapers, reference materials and some historical items.
Fines are levied for late returns. The fine accumulates at 10 cents per day for printed materials and $ .50 per day for videos (including free videos). Fines are also levied for videos that are not rewound (50 cents). Digital materils have no fines (they expire at the end of their period). Checkout privileges are suspended when fines reach $10.00.
